Stargaze at a Roofless Sand Hotel

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Check out the roofless sand “hotel” in England that’s been built right on the beach…made from 1,000 tons of sand!

It took a combined total of four men 98 hours to create the project. Even the beds are made of sand!

There’s no roof, so guests can stargaze at night, and in the morning the tide laps at the entrance. Now that’s a real beachfront property!

Much to Offer at the National Harbor Project

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Yesterday I visited the National Harbor Project in Maryland, which sits across the Potomac River from Alexandria, VA…

…it’s worth seeing.

National Harbor Project

It’s still under construction, but restaurants and shops in the area are beginning to open, and the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, one of the project’s focus points spanning 300 acres, has been open for about a month.

A famous Washington, DC attraction, “The Awakening,” has been relocated to the beach at National Harbor, There are plenty of places to catch a glimpse of the river, from restaurant balconies to a seashell-covered lookout point.

I ate lunch at the National Pastime Sports Bar & Grille, which is inside the Gaylord complex. Some cool things about the restaurant:

-a 30 ft tv wall that features five different screens
-contemporary design fused with the classic feel of a ballgame…even the menus are shaped like baseball gloves
-fast and attentive service and food arrival - even during a busy Sunday lunch
-private rooms and ample seating to accommodate your large group

I recommend paying a visit - National Harbor is a city in the making, and you can become a part of it.
